Each week, we share the reflective thoughts of one of our partners in the form of a devotional. This week’s devotional was written by Andrea Holmes.

The Word:
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 (NASB)

The Story:
From the moment my eyes pop open in the morning, I begin running through my day, creating mental to-do lists, and focusing on any potential challenges that I may face.  There is always something to do, somewhere to go, and someone to see.  However, I realize that sometimes as I am rolling through my day, there are few times that I just allow myself to just be still and marvel upon the miracles around me. Where I can stop and recognize God being Himself.

The Reflection:
Do we really absorb that God is God?  Or do we allow little things to worry us, when we should instead be singing a song of praise, thanking God for being so excellent and mighty in our lives? What are we doing each day to spend time reflecting on who God is?

The Application:
This week, let us take some time and just meditate on the wonder that is our God.  As we are consumed by tasks and challenges, we should focus not on worrying but on allowing God to fulfill His promises and take care of all we need.

The Prayer:
Lord, please teach us how to be still.  The world is always churning with things to do and there is an abundance of distractions to shift our focus from You.  It is our prayer that you will give us the ability to completely look towards You and allow You to just be God in our lives.  Amen.
