Each week, we present a devotional that was written by one of our partners. This week’s inspirational words were written by Art Beall. The Word:
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 (NASB)
The Story:
Lately, the Holy Spirit has been showing me that there are areas of my life that are not pleasing to Him. Physical evidence around me reveals that I am trying to function on my own, and I don’t really believe that the Lord is looking out for me or hearing my prayers. I realized that in certain situations, I have been responding to people out of fear and unbelief. However, throughout the Bible, the Lord tells us that His love and protection are always with His children. What an amazing promise! Keeping this in mind, I will rely on the Lord in all things. I know that God honors those whose trust and hope are fully in Him.
The Reflection:
Are there areas in our lives -work, personal relationships, finances- where we are not trusting God to have our best interests at heart? How often do we find ourselves trying to solve problems because we do not trust the Lord to handle them?
The Application:
This week, let us ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas in our lives where we lack faith that the Lord is in control. Let us pray for strength against our fears, and make a choice to trust the Lord.
The Prayer:
Lord, please forgive us for any areas in our lives where we doubt or fear that You are not in control. Thank you for your promise that nothing can separate us from your love. We trust You, God, knowing that You have the ultimate victory over everything. Amen.
