Each week, we share the inspirational words of one of our partners in the form of a devotional. This week we are pleased to present a devotional written by Tonia Johnson.
The Word:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For my yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NASB)

The Story:
Life is full of challenges. Many times, these situations bother us to no end and throw us off track. Most of us have used the familiar phrase, “It could be worse.” However, I wonder if we have seriously considered how true that is. We have no idea how many times God has protected us from devastating situations. However, we persist in worrying about our circumstances. As a follower of Christ, He is my blessed hope and I know no matter how large or small a problem is, He is able to handle it. I always remind myself that no burden is too heavy when turned over to Jesus.

The Reflection:
How often do we find ourselves stressing over the many cares of life instead of asking the Lord for His help? What causes us to neglect turning to God as the source for all we need?

The Application:
The next time we are tempted to become overwhelmed by any situation, let’s stop, pray for strength and redirect our attention to God and His promises.

The Prayer:
Father, forgive us for magnifying the problems in our lives instead of concentrating on You and Your word. Help us to remember to give all our cares to You because you loves us so deeply. Thank you for your faithfulness. Amen.
