During our Easter Service, Pastor Conway preached a sermon entitled, “Choose Right.” Here are the answers to the questions that we received:

Q: During the Easter service the pastor said that there is no purgatory, but isn’t that how it will be for the people left after the rapture for 1000 years?
A: The period immediately following the rapture is called the Tribulation. It will last for 7 years. Following the Tribulation will come a time called the Millenium. It will last for 1000 years. This is not purgatory. Purgatory is a doctrine of the Roman Catholic church that describes a sort of holding place between earth and heaven for those who have died.Q: Did Moses, David, Abraham and the other men and people of God in the Old Testament go to Hell when they died?
A: To answer your question: Before Christ, the old testament saints who died went to a place called Sheol. Sheol was a holding place for both the righteous and the wicked (Numbers 16:30,33; Psalm 16:10). By Jesus’ time the idea was described as “Abraham’s side”, apparently a place of paradise for old testament believers at the time of death (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4).
