Each week, we present the inspirational words of one of our partners in the form of a devotional. This week’s devotional was written by Bob Tidwell. The title is “The Lord Is With Us.”
The Word:
“Cease striving and know that I am God…The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold.” Psalms 46:10-11 (NASB)

The Story:
Each morning, my wife and I stumble into the kitchen for coffee and to start our day. We are greeted by a message stationed on the wall, “Cease striving and know that I am God…” This reminds me that as a Christian, I have nothing to fear if I trust in the Lord. Releasing that fear keeps me from getting feverishly wrapped up in my own methods of addressing the challenges of this world. When I trust in God, the issues I face no longer seem so daunting.

The Reflection:
Do we recognize that God fully understands our fears? Are we using lots of energy crafting solutions to the challenges we face instead of leaving them to the Lord? God loves us more than we can comprehend. We can turn to Him as our refuge no matter how small or big an issue may seem.

The Application:
Choose to make God the solution for all situations, especially those that present challenges or cause anxiety. Let us turn to God through prayer and reading the Bible so that we may receive His guidance.

The Prayer:
Father, forgive us for not turning to You as the solution to the trials we face. Help us to pray and read Your Word regularly so that our hearts and minds would be open to follow Your leading. Amen.
