Every week, we share the inspirational words of one of our partners in the form of a devotional. This week’s devotional was written by Yvonne Annoh and it is titled, “Think About The Lord.”The Word:
“He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.” Psalm 121:3-8 (NASB)

The Story:
I love music and recently our praise team sang the song ‘When I think about the Lord.’  In that song, the writer writes, ‘He (God) picked me up and turned me around. He placed my feet on solid ground. It makes me want to shout Hallelujah.’  In listening to this, I was captured by the words.  I think back at life and just marvel at the truth in this statement.

The Reflection:
The psalmist writes that our God will ‘not slumber’.  He will ‘protect you from all evil’.  This is what our God does for his children.  For those who have children or even someone you really care about, can you imagine the lengths you would go through just to keep them safe?  But even with good intentions, you still fall asleep and are not always able be there for them.  Our God promises to not slumber and to always protect.  That alone should give you a comfort and peace in the midst of your situation.

The Application:
This week, I want you to simply reflect every night on the wonders and goodness of your God during the day and reflect back on times that He has ‘picked you up and turned you around’.  Praise His name and thank Him for putting you on the right path, because as they say…only God would know where you would be now if He did not protect you from… you fill in the blank.

The Prayer:
God we praise you for loving us and protecting us.  God we pray that we never lose sight of your amazing love and kindness. Please continue to protect us from evil. We love you and we honor you. Amen.
