Each week, we share the inspirational words of one of our partners in the form of a devotional. This week’s devotional is from Rori Coryatt and titled, “Walking In Faith.”
The Word:
For though I am absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ. (Colossians 2:5-7, NASB)
The Story:
I was unhappy with my job for over a year. I was so desperate for change that I was willing to settle for anything new. As I became more impatient, I applied for positions inside and outside the company without positive results. I realized that those doors were being closed for a reason and I should wait for God to direct my path. When I walked in complete faith and dismissed the fear of the unknown, I no longer chased positions to just remove myself from my current situation. I became confident that God had a purpose and a plan for me. After waiting patiently for the Lord, I was blessed with a position according to His desires for my life.
The Reflection:
Have there been times our lives that we’ve wondered about God’s plans for us? What do we put our trust in during difficult times or when the path before us does not make sense? Realize that these uncertain situations create opportunities for us to strengthen our faith in God.
The Application:
The next time we are faced with a decision, large or small, let us stop, pray and have faith that God will place us on the path where He needs us to be.
The Prayer:
God, help us to recognize when we are not walking in faith. Touch our hearts so we always remember Your promise that You work everything out for the good for those who love You. Amen.
