Every week, we share the inspirational words of one of our partners in the form of a devotional. This week’s devotional is from Danielle Riddick and it is titled, “What’s On Your Mind.”The Word: “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 (NIV)

The Story: I’ve always had a very active imagination and have been able to picture a myriad of distinctive images in my mind. Sometimes those images were positive and positioned me to do well in life. Many times, however, I envisioned drastically negative and disheartening situations based on a solitary event. As I grew in my Christian walk, I began replacing my negative thoughts with principles from God’s Word. Filling my spirit with the promises given in the Bible helps me to focus on things above.

The Reflection: On what type of thoughts do you allow your mind to dwell? What scriptures do you have ready to defeat negative thoughts? How much time do you spend daily thinking about the Lord’s goodness?

The Application: This week, commit to focusing your mind on lovely, noble, and admirable thoughts. When corrupt thoughts come to mind, I encourage you to dive into God’s Word and encourage yourself. Allow your mind to rest in the goodness of His promises.

The Prayer: Lord, my mind is yours! I pray that as I delve into your Word, my mind will be filled with your purity.
