Every week, we present the inspirational words of one of our partners in the form of a devotional. This week’s devotional was written by Keith Moore and it titled, “Where Do I Turn?”The Word: “In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed. In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me and save me. Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.” Psalm71: 1-3 (NASB)
The Story: I have faced numerous hardships during my life. When I was younger, I would often seek comfort from the wrong places. My confidence was put into my natural capabilities because I believed my efforts could heal the heartache. When I accepted Christ into my life, I came to understand that I needed to give all my adversities to Him. He is dedicated to being our support in times of sorrow. God alone can bring true and eternal restoration.
The Application: Remember that when hardships arise, only Jesus’ love can bring genuine healing. This week, we must acknowledge areas in our lives where we have relied on natural sources for comfort. Permanently give these issues to God.
The Reflection: What is the first outlet we turn to for peace? Have we opened up every area of our lives to God, and allowed Him to be the one we lean on? We can trust in the Lord knowing He is always there to comfort and protect us.
The Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that my all pain can be brought before you. Lord, please give me your everlasting peace. I am reassured knowing that you are always a place of refuge. Amen.
