Faithful Perseverance

Scripture
Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
Hebrews 12:12-13 ESV
If we were running a race we had not prepared for, it would be easy to consider quitting because of the pain, struggle, and frustration. The symptoms of running an unprepared race can quickly reveal our weak points. We may become out of breath too soon, or our knees may begin to ache and feel unstable.
The author of Hebrews encourages weary believers to strengthen what has become weak and make straight paths for their feet. The goal is not simply to keep moving for our own sake. Verse 13 shows concern for what is “lame,” so that it may be healed rather than injured further. Our perseverance can create a steadier path for others who may also be struggling.
These verses nudge us to persevere, but our perseverance is not only about us. How we walk through difficult seasons can strengthen someone else who is struggling. We are called to move through the spaces God has given us intentionally, remembering that others may be watching the path we take. The next time a challenge feels like it is requiring everything you have and then some, remember that your faithful perseverance may help make the path straighter for someone beside you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to live with intentionality and perseverance. Your Word tells us to make straight paths for our feet. Help us lean on Your instruction and guidance as we walk through difficult seasons. Strengthen us so that the way we persevere can also support those journeying alongside us. Help us walk faithfully and create paths that encourage healing rather than further hurt. We need Your continued guidance every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
