Through Every Season

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

When I was going through my season of pruning, or what the Bible calls the sanctification process, I kept being brought back to Jeremiah 29:11. Like many people, I would always quote the well-known promise, “For I know the plans I have for you,” but one day, the Lord told me, “Keep reading.” So, I continued reading Jeremiah 29:12–14, and wow, my mind was blown.
The Lord showed me that the best part of this passage wasn’t just His promise of a future and a hope. It was when He spoke to me in my toughest season, when I didn’t feel like I could keep going: “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will hear you. You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with your WHOLE heart.”
When I read those verses during my valley season, they shook me. My Lord, my God, my Savior would hear my cry. I would find Him, and He would restore me. That challenged me to do the very first thing He called me to do: call upon Him. God is faithful and always holds true to His promises
