I Can Show You Better Than I Can Tell You

Scripture
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words or He will rebuke you, and you will be proved a liar.
Proverbs 30:5-6 CSB
As a child, sometimes my mother would ask me to relay a message to others as she didn’t have the time or access to speak for herself at that moment. Oftentimes, either due to me being mad or disobedient, I felt her wording or message didn’t TRULY convey what she wanted to say. So, in my desire to communicate what I felt her message was, I would add a few choice words here and there to “fix” her message to suit my personal taste.
However, what I often didn’t realize was that those few choice words COMPLETELY changed the tone and the meaning of what my mother was trying to say. The changes often led to confusion. Furthermore, every time I did so, the other person seeking clarification on the message I presented would reach back out to my mother. Then the conversation between her and me would always go the same way: “That’s not what I said. What I said was (insert message here). You’re out here making me look bad, putting words in my mouth. That’s okay. I can show you better than I can tell you. (insert punishment here)”. We often do the same with God’s word and orders. We often times take His word and use it to fit our flesh and our own desires rather than fixing our flesh to fit His word. God’s messages leave no confusion and are powerful enough on their own. Where in your life have you manipulated God’s message to fit your own desires, and what punishment followed? How can you follow His orders and words more closely?
