Made in His Image

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 ESV
God does not see us the way man sees us. He sees His creation. He sees His child. People often write us off in life because they judge by what’s in front of them—appearance, past mistakes, circumstances. But God knew us before the beginning of time. He has created each of us for a unique purpose. You are His.
Don’t limit your potential to what you see in the mirror or what others believe to be true about you. Seek His face and his divine purpose for your life. Consider taking a spiritual gifts assessment to discover your strengths, then leverage them for the Kingdom. When you feel overlooked or underestimated, remember: man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
He isn’t finished with you. He sees potential where others see limitation. He sees purpose where others see ordinary. Trust His vision for your life over your own doubts or the opinions of others.
Prayer: Father God, I trust my life to You. Help me not to limit myself to what I see or what I think I can accomplish on my own. Let me look in the mirror and see myself through Your lens; not as the world defines me, but as You created me. Reveal my purpose, strengthen my gifts, and give me courage to walk in them for Your glory. I give my life to You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
