The Power Is Within Us

Scripture

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.

Ephesians 3:20 ESV

Sometimes, when life isn’t going my way, I get discouraged and frustrated for a few minutes (I’m human), but then I reflect on the power of God that’s within me: “The Greek word for power is dunamis, which refers to the miraculous ability working within a believer to see the power of God released in a situation. The word for ‘work’ is energeo in Greek and is the divine energy of the Spirit that manifests through us” (The Perry Stone Study Bible). With that, allow me to expound on what’s inside a believer in Jesus Christ.

It’s the same power that healed the blind man and the paralytic, calmed the storm, and brought forth Lazarus from the dead. So, if you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, then His magnificent power is within you. “It is theorized that 34 billion watts of cold energy traveling at 1/4th of a billionth of a second left an image on the shroud at the moment of resurrection. The image on the Shroud of Turin is just 0.02 microns thin—no paint, no dye, no ink.” (Dr. Jeremiah Johnston) The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you (Romans 8:11 ESV). So, “can’t” shouldn’t be in a believer’s vocabulary, because with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

In your spare time, create a list of scriptures about the miraculous feats Jesus performed while here on earth and the power He revealed that’s within you. Review a few daily, and watch your faith in Him grow.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for being a gracious and forgiving God who sticks with us even when we’re frustrated and discouraged with life and say things that are not according to Your Word. We sometimes forget what’s in us: we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13), and today, we declare we’ll do better, do our part by remembering and believing what we have stored in us, in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
