The Word of God in Our Heart
Written by Cory A • Garland Campus
Scripture
I have treasured Your word in my heart, So that I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11 NASB
This scripture points out how the truth of God stored in our hearts is to be internalized and accepted to fight against the temptation of sin. God’s word is pure, proven, and powerful, and it gives us the knowledge we need in daily life. As we study and reflect on His word, it guides us as we connect to God. His Word in our hearts helps us submit to His will.
The Word of God in our hearts shapes how we think and act when we face the circumstances of life. Each day we should challenge ourselves to study the Word of God and apply it to every aspect of our life. We should have a daily check-in of how we observed His Word in action. Ask yourself: Did I remember His Word today, and where did I apply it today? The way we can accomplish this is by prayer and letting Christ operate in us through the Spirit of God. God’s word is not just a remedy for our troubles but guidance for the way we are to live in this world.
Prayer: Father God, we love and thank You for each day you bless us to see. We praise and give you the glory because it is by Your love and faithfulness that we are granted each day. Lord God, we thank You for Your Word, which equips, guides, and strengthens us each day. Lord, we pray that we remember to study Your Word and apply it so that we won’t be a workman who is ashamed because we have not stored Your Word in our hearts. Thank You, Lord God, for Your Son Jesus, who is the example for us, as the way, and for coming into our hearts to empower us to stand strong and courageous in this fight of faith. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
